FlanaPerkie Vacation

We were able to meet up with our Great Friends the Flanagan's for a weekend at Oak Island, NC. Which happened to be Fathers Day weekend. We had not seen our friends for about 6 months. We set a date, booked a house (had to have a house big enough to hold our whole brood), and waited impatiently for the day to arrive. We rented the house only two weeks before the scheduled date and got a great price. Which we were very excited about.

We checked in on Friday, unpacked our bags, and did what comes natural to anyone who is at the beach for vacation. Put on our swimsuits and headed straight for the beach, of course! Spend a few hours at the beach, and then headed to a little restaurant in town. Oak Island Rest. which was in a little white house that served great home style, southern cooking. The Flanagan's finally arrived late Friday night.

Saturday Morning came early for some kiddos that were excited to see each other and go to the beach! We were able to get everyone breakfast and then suited up. First we had to put sunscreen on everyone. We are two very pale families who most of us will burn if we don't have at least SPF 100 on. Putting sunscreen on everyone was no small task. Total 12 people! We had some impatient children who didn't think sunscreen was that important. We spent most of this day at the beach, came in for lunch, went back to the beach, ordered some great BBQ from a local rest. for dinner and just chilled out for the evening, played some card games, etc....

Our catch of the day! Little Crab

We packed up on Sunday morning and checked out. Snapped a quick family photo, hit a few of the shops for some souvenirs, took some pics of our heads in a sharks mouth(what everybody wants to do right :-), found a park to let the kids play and enjoy a picnic.

Pics of the Great Family we had to say goodbye to :-(

My favorite pic with my favorite person! :)

We said our goodbyes to the Flanagan Family!

So we thought! Matt realized that he did not have his wallet. Went back to the house- not there. Where was the last placed he saw it or used it. Last night at the BBQ house. Went back to the BBQ house and they tell us no one has seen a wallet, and no one had turned one in. So, Okay thanks. We head home without said wallet.

We get home and the first thing I do always is check the answering machine for messages. There is a msg left from Oak Island Police Dept., they have a wallet that belongs to John Matthew Perkins and would like us to come and claim the wallet. I call the officer and tell him we are now back in GA. He says no problem I will mail it to you. We waited about 2 weeks, finally received his wallet all bagged up in an evidence bag. So Funny! Luckily everything was in its place, nothing was missing. Very thankful for whoever turned it in, which we found out later from the officer that it was found at the BBQ house which we had check before we left. How frustrating! But glad to have his wallet back untouched.

We really had a great time vacationing with the Flanagans. I love their family and I'm gonna miss them bunches. They are on their way to Germany. We hope we will be able to go and visit them within the 3 yrs they are there.
